The story of Vivaltus is deeply rooted in the origins of its people, its grapes, and its ideas. Everything begins there. It is the foundation of our unwavering commitment to excellence.
Ramón Martínez, Jesús Yllera and José Yllera; three men with a long family winemaking tradition joined forces in the 1980s, united by a shared challenge and the ambition to create something different and better in the Rueda region.
The Yllera family, heirs to a long-standing winemaking tradition.
Ramón Martínez, grandson of the founder of the renowned Rioja winery Bodegas Berberana.
United by a shared vision, they gradually expanded their project, crafting wines across other Spanish Designations of Origin (DOs) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs).
Today, the winery is led by brothers Marcos and Carlos Yllera, together with Ramón Martínez’s children; Beatriz, César and Montxo Martínez, the latter also serving as the winery’s winemaker. Together, they share the ambition to create a truly unique wine: distinctive, captivating, timeless a legend in the making.
In the 2010s, they embarked on a journey in pursuit of excellence in Ribera del Duero, recognising it as one of Spain’s most promising wine regions. They were joined in this endeavour by an exceptional mentor: Jean-Claude Berrouet, regarded by many as the world’s finest winemaker.
